Devon – Manatokan Battery
Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) provided mechanical, civil, and structural design and construction support for expansion and retrofit of an existing oil battery in tank farm installation in Central Alberta. Project scope included:
- Design and construction of Phase 3 with capacity to process 10000 bbl/day of oil, 10000 bbl/day of produced water, and 1% sand. Phase 3 is essentially a twin of Phase 2 with improvements in the original design to improve efficiency and throughput
- Total facility capacity was brought up to 27,000 bbl/day of oil
- Provisions were made for oil to be loaded onto trucks to allow shipment by road should the pipeline be shut in
- Phase 1 and Phase 2 VRU’s were retrofitted to improve efficiency
The EPCM project services scope started with AFE development and approval, EUB permitting, DBM preparation and equipment specifications, detailed design and procurement, specifications for construction, equipment and construction bidding and contract awards, shop and field inspection, commissioning and start-up. The project was completed under budget, a week within initial schedule, and improved on the original Phase 2 design by over 50%.
